1952 As lieutenant, served U.S. Army, Korean War until 1954.
15 May 1963 Robert Novak and Rowland Evans join together, for political column Inside Report.
1978 Interviews Deng Xiaoping in China.
15 May 1993 Rowland Evans retires from co-writing column Inside Report, leaving it to Novak.
8 Jul 2003 During a conversation struck up by a perfect stranger about Ambassador Joseph Wilson on a Washington, D.C. sidewalk, Robert Novak opines: "Wilson's an asshole. The CIA sent him. His wife, Valerie, works for the CIA. She's a weapons of mass destruction specialist. She sent him." Unfortunately for Novak, the stranger turns out to be a good friend of Joseph Wilson, who quickly receives word of the exchange.
14 Jul 2003 Blows the CIA cover of Ambassador Joseph Wilson's wife (who is an operative), as part of a retaliation for his report that concluded there was no attempt by Iraq to purchase yellowcake uranium ore from Niger.
7 Oct 2003 President George W Bush, regarding the leak of CIA operative Valerie Plame's identity to Robert Novak: "I don't know if we're going to find out the senior administration official. I don't have any idea."
9 Oct 2003 G. Gordon Liddy on President George W Bush's attitude toward the Valerie Plame scandal: "I don't think he wants to find out who did the leaking."
25 Mar 2004 On CNN's Crossfire, Robert Novak provokes Congressman Rahm Emanuel:
NOVAK: Congressman, do you believe -- you're a sophisticated guy -- do you believe, watching these hearings, that Dick Clarke has a problem with this African-American woman Condoleezza Rice?
EMANUEL: Say that again?
NOVAK: Do you believe that Dick Clarke has a problem with this African-American woman Condoleezza Rice?
EMANUEL: No, no. Bob, give me a break. No. No.
3 Jun 2004 Regarding the Valerie Plame leak, President Bush declares: "I've told our administration that we'll fully cooperate with their investigation. I want to know the truth, and I'm willing to cooperate myself."
13 Dec 2005 Addressing the John Locke Foundation during a luncheon in Raleigh, North Carolina, journalist Robert Novak opines: "I'm confident the President knows who the source is. [...] I'd be amazed if he doesn't. [...] So I say: Don't bug me. Don't bug Bob Woodward. Bug the President as to whether he should reveal who the source is."
