PropagandaDuring World War II, both Britain and Germany launched propaganda campaigns based on the writings of Nostradamus. In Germany, the famous astrologer Karl Ernest Kraft was instructed by the Propaganda Ministry to cough up any quatrains that would indicate a German victory. Britain took a more comprehensive approach: they printed forgeries of Nostradamus' books which contained bad news for Hitler. They also disseminated reproductions of a (forged) confidential letter from Karl Ernest Kraft, wherein he foretells total German surrender.
