In 1999, the novel Blue Bacon Fat hit store shelves in Russia. Apparently the book includes graphic depictions of sex between clones of Josef Stalin and Nikita Khrushchev.

In 2002, Russian authorities brought the first criminal pornography charges against someone since the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1989.

"I'm not a pornographer. A pornographer is someone who has to give the reader an erection. That's why they make their money. I'm not at all interested in my readers getting erections."
